    Thanks for sharing Matt, what a great trip and memories that will last a lifetime - just plain awesome. Beautiful country, a shame about the beetles man they are destructive.

    I too am curious about your rifle and scope set up

    Thanks every one for the kind words. I cannot recommend that everyone take a trip west at some point enough. Great country and a wonderful experience.

    There were 4 of us in camp: my guide and I along with the outfitter and his girlfriend, who he was guiding. She shot a nice velvet muley as well.

    I used my Xbolt in .30-06, using federal premium 180gr nosler partitions with a redfield accurange scope, 2-7x. I shot it regularly and got where I could get a decent group in prone at 350 yards.

    I am going to SE montana for a mule deer next season. I need to get my feet wet before I go full backcountry mountain hunt like you did!!!
