Default powder and pellets

I had a question for all you ML guys...I got my 1st ML this year, I was wondering can I mix 777 pellets with 777 powder..I ask because if I drop in 2 pellets that= 100 grains...what I want to try shooting 115 grains is it ok to add the powder to get the right amount I want? or am I asking for trouble and a trip to the ER

thanks

oh, I almost forgot I had another question I went out today with my ML when loading I seemed to had packed the bullet hard to the point it broke the pellet ..is this still safe to shoot?

Default Powder

If you want to shoot odd amounts why don't you just use loose powder. Much easier to try different loads that way.

I agree with Rogo, don't mix and match. You should avoid crushing the pellets, just seat the sabot firmly.

I'd say no on mixing, and there is no reason to pack the bullet down. Just push it down till it stops. Any more pressure will break the pellets. Is it safe to shoot...yes. Would I hunt with it....no, but that's just me. It probably wouldn't make a difference.

Hodgen says not to crush the pellets..the you will not have uniform packing of the pellet/powder and some air space. Most likley lead to flyers at the worse possible moment. Like DL says, just push the bullet down until it is seated.

I bought my first ML this year, a Thompson Omega with the weathershield. The gun came with a free box of 777 pellets and I bought the 250 grain Thompson Center Sabots for it. The only problem is that the sabots fit so tight into the barrel that I have to use a lot of force to get them seated. It doesn't feel right that I am using so much effort to get the bullet seated, but it shoots nice tight groups. After I shoot it once or twice, the sabot seems to slide down the barrel more easily. When I tried some powerbelts they seated much easier than the sabots. Is it normal for the sabots to fit so tightly?

Yeah I didn't mean to break the pellts I just pushed down the bullet untill it stoped and at the same time I felt the pellet crack..Iguess I'll just have to take it a bit easier next time

Sounds like you need to get your muscles tuned to your gun, that's all...

It seems that a lot of Omegas have tight barrels. I use the T/C shockwaves with Hasrvester crush rib sabots, they make loading much easier.
