I don't think that there is a better scope than a 1-4 Leupold, other than my Trijicon

Seriously though, I have 3 1-4's and love em. Did you snag it in Wausau? Also, did I miss the caliber somewhere?

Green Bay. 30-06. Shoots 2" groups with 150 core lokt. This will be my backup for a trip to the Adirondacks in 3 weeks.

Are you still looking for 300 savage? They had a 760 in the used gun rack, marked down to $399.

I have a 7600 in 300 Savage. Although I have to admit that I have been questioning why I bought it. I guees just crazy thoughts as of late. Must be something in the water. I know a guy who was looking, but he just bought one off of GunBroker.

I'm back from the Adirondacks...never saw a deer. Had a great time, saw my first moose in the woods. That was very cool.

About this 760....

My cousin was fiddling around with it and noticed that the action tube was only finger tight. We removed it and I could wiggle the barrel in the receiver!

I'll take it back to Gander MT & have them torque it back to specs and use some lok-tite. It might shoot better than 2" after that.

I saw one like that a few years ago, a 760 carbine in 308. Fortunately, I felt it wiggle before I dropped any money on it. Pointed it out to the gun shop owner, he just shrugged his shoulders and put it back on the rack.

If I can't get Gander to do the work under warranty, it seems like an easy fix. A 3/16 hard steel rod will fit the holes in the action tube. I should be able to tighten it myself. Just remember the lok-tite!
