Baircasting reel

I can tell you that when I'm looking for a spinning reel, my search starts and stops at Shimano.

For the trolling I do, I have not found a better reel than the Shimano TR.

IF I were buying a new round reel, I'd look hard at the Calcutta although I do like the Garcia reels.

I have looked at a number of low profile Shimano reels and I just can't warm up to them. That is just me.

Some guys that I know that really fish a lot swear by Shimano.

Tough to beat the Calcutta. That said the bulk of my work involves a couple of 20+ year old Abu garcias. Ice fishing, open water the works. Calcutta just sees the salt.

Had the Calcutta. Loved it. Shit the bed in 4 years... didn't hold up like my old Abu's. Got the Daiwa Luna to replace it.... The Daiwa Luna beats the Shimano Calcutta in every way. IMHO But these are round reels.
