    Default New Henry 45-70

Got my new rifle today and got the mounts and scope on it. Henry 45-70, Leupold VXIII, 1.5-5. Am excited to shoot it next week, will post the results. The wood and bluing on this rifle is really nice! Very happy so far. Planning on using it up in Maine next season.

A lot of room even with the low mounts. Might not even put the hammer spur extension on it.

It looks like it, will you keep the lever as is or put the bigger loop on it

That gun wont be any good for Maine ! The instructions on the receiver shows you its only good for moose and bear !

I've been using my Marlins for years with the regular loop. I usually wear those thin brown cotton gloves when I am hunting up North, so never really been an issue. I saw that Henry sells the big loops for about 50 bucks.

I figure if it will kill a moose or bear it should kill a deer.

Beautiful gun. Did you get it new of used. Henry is one of the only guns I dont have. But I have been itching for one for a while.

New. It is very sleek. I like close wood to metal fit on it compared to my Marlins.
