Chicken of the Woods - Wild Mushrooms
Found a good cluster of Chicken of the Woods mushrooms. I took the small cluster at the bottom of the pic for now and will go back to take some of the bigger cluster. They regenerated on the same log that I harvested some from last year. Cooked some up with a Goose Breast steak cooked medium rare.

I always thought they were a fall shroom? Are you able to harvest them 3 seasons?

I'm not sure on their season for harvest. The ones I got late summer last year were real tough - so gone by? I really don't know. Theses ones were much more tender. I'm going back for the bigger cluster but will leave a lobe fore potential regrowth.

great stuff - i saw a big batch that were this color last weekend. I did not think they were chicken of the woods though - they looked more flat and plate-like but I was not so close. I will go revisit this weekend. Are chicken of the woods and hen of the woods the same? the meal looks outstanding!
