I’m a better trapper/hunter than I am a fisherman. I’d have to bring 10 kids with me, set a limit of traps per person, and have each carry a lucky rabbits foot to compete.

In regards to fishing ability, which fisherman are you in the GIF?

I don?t know what he looks like ice fishing but I?ve heard that he looks like an old lady running from a swarm of bees while he?s fly fishing....
    Prolly just a viscous rumor?

Had a nice walk this evening checking my two remaining traps. No catches.

Had a deer follow my boot tracks after this past weekends check. This scenario happens to me a lot.

walking is tough on the ice right now. I fished yesterday afternoon, and I was following all the sled tracks I could. Looks like you to a hell of a work out across that bog!!

On a gut feeling about today’s rain and few days of warm temps I pulled my traps. I am happy I followed instinct as there is abundant water on top of the ice now. I guess I’ll see what next weeks temperatures bring.

On a good note, my driveway is free of ice now and the snow banks melted back. I started to be 580 case yesterday evening to clear snow from the area I pile log length firewood. Now I need to find a company that has available log lengths.

The picture looks worse than it was. Wind had pushed about 7” of snow off the marsh leaving a snow depth of about 8-9”. There where two drifts I avoided that would have been just over knee height.

I thought about sled tracks as I chugged along and how I sold my Skandic last spring.

Zero traps out at this point

I took the opportunity of using the warm weather and ice free access road to have a grapple load of hardwood delivered.

Last weekend I sold 6 beaver pelts, 3 muskrat and 1.5 pounds of castor to a fur buyer. He was telling me that very few people (compared to an average year) are out trapping this year. This will make it two consecutive years of low trapper effort.

I hear fur prices are real low.
