I took a few days off work and I’m headed to Ohio. I have my gravely loaded in my truck and enough supplies for two days. I’m trying to clear as much brush as possible and hopefully by may I will be ready to plant clover and buckwheat.

I cleared about 1/2 acre of brush and plowed it with my gravely. Next week I will spray herbicide and hopefully by the end of May it will be planted. 0BB1AD9A-0404-41B2-A2AF-343513BD85FB.jpg89EE28F2-ED25-40A6-A4AC-6694078360DB.jpg

I’ve been spending a lot of time at my camp this year. I’ve cleared tons of brush and put 4 small food plots of buckwheat and clover. Two of them are about 25 yards square and another is 40 yards long and 10 yards wide. The last is about 10 yards wide and 70 yards long. I planted 3 of them 20 days ago and the last one yesterday. I hung two cameras yesterday also. The buckwheat is about 10” y’all and spotty in one plot because it’s been so wet. The clover is starting to come up with full coverage in all plots. 60EF715D-F5B5-464D-90ED-ACB8DDB60C09.jpg0F21721B-1A37-4284-A304-C9363A253041.jpg I will disc it in August to let the buckwheat re seed and throw turnips and oats in with it. Next spring I will increase the size of them. This year was a learning experience. I didn’t soil test or fertilize anything. I cleared the brush with a gravely, sprayed weed killer, tilled and planted.

Here’s some of the bucks I had on camera this season. Unfortunately I was about a week late hunting Ohio. Action was slow while I was at camp this year. I saw a few young bucks and missed a 150 10 point. 7F4F1395-5EE2-4861-9920-5181691D0DC0.jpg72C1D510-CBAE-4291-A5C6-F9C5ED3F9D0D.jpg031FD03F-9783-4767-B64A-830EB7746743.jpg

I was starting to wonder where you guys went. Usually you have some steady action.
I love it when a plan comes together!
