Well, went out Saturday in the nice mist and set up one of my permanents deep in the woods. What a sweet spot! There is this old stone wall that the deer walk right next to. What a great run. Above that about 70-75 yds away starts a ridge that holds acorns and some cover. I set my stand with a 35 yd shot to the ridge and 30 yds to the wall. There are 3 runs all crossing right in the front of the stand. I saw 2 deer in there when I walked in. I sat in it for a few minutes to visualize and go through some draw cylces. Looks great and I am pumped. I saw a nice 6 pointer in there last year.

I'm in an oak tree that grew right next to a pine. I've got great cover and trimmed the limbs for perfect shots.

Now I have 3 permanents set and ready. Come on October!

yup, i took one stand down today and need to relocate it. gotta find a spot that has easy access for my dad to get to. with his health he can't make those long hikes anymore.
found a couple good trails following a stone wall in a beech area. did find a few nuts still on the trees, pretty spotty though. got a couple cams setup in the area to see if anyone is home.

Yep yep yep...sleepless nights are here again...anticipation is a killer. Got 2 stands hung in MA plus a few other trees picked out for climbers. Still have one 2 person ladder stand to move. Went to CT last weekend on a scouting mission. Saw 23 deer while in the woods. Got some hot little areas picked out down there...the 15th can't get here quick enough.

Jeff, you are more than welcome to come on down. I will set you up for sure. I have about 12 spots, but use my climber in many of them. A few of the stands are in the same general area, just depends on wind. One of my stands is across the street from the "Quabin" main gate (very close at least). Some 140" plus deer have been shot in this area. Not by me!!

New poster - been reading this site for acouple of weeks though.

I was out this AM checking out some spots, found lots of tracks, some droppings, 1 bed, and a very nice scrape - FRESH http://www.huntingchat.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_biggrin.gif . Also found some moose tracks and a tree with markings above my head down to my chest, older.

Very excited about this bow season, I hadn't picked up my bow in several years. My son is now 3+ and spending some time in pre-school.

I see UltraTec has the Archery Plus logo, that's where I bought my arrows and broadheads this year, and had some work done to the bow; they are about 7 miles from me.

Welcome aboard GM-Guy!! I also go to Archery Plus. Love the shop.

I haven't seen or found any scrapes yet, heading out this afternoon for a bit. I found two other great spots near work this week and even walked up on a fawn bedding yesterday, then spotted momma a little ways away. Getting ready. Start practicing with that bow, we are down to crunch time and you don't want any misses or worse yet a non fatal shot.

Hey Gm-Guy,
Glad to hear you have been in the shop! Hope those arrows are working out for you!

I've been out practicing since late August. I can hold inside a circle on 'The Block' from 25yds on in, most of the time the fletching touches, sometimes the shafts; plenty enough to drop a deer.

ON EDIT:
UltraTec, your post just popped up. Yes, the arrows are working just fine.

Well, I snuck out for an hour from the office and scoped another spot I use to ride my quad at. I saw sign all over pretty much and kicked up a big doe bedding under an oak tree. TONS and I mean TONS of acorns. She was laying right in them basically. Another good spot to hunt.. (Keith and Wells, get ready for this one). This would be the area I'd take us all.

Welcome GM-Guy. Glad to see you found the site. I've never been to Archery Plus but Archery Plus came to us a couple weeks ago ( http://www.huntingchat.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_lol.gif http://www.huntingchat.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_lol.gif ). Couldn't ask for better service. BTW Keith-love them arrows, gotta get some more from you soon. http://www.huntingchat.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif
