Just started shooting a PSE Carrera (slightly used) - fastest thing I ever shot. Received as a gift from a friend. New string and cable, sight and peep and she's ready to go. Now its time to practice, practice and practice.....

Was shooting a Matthews Legacy and switched over last season. I just felt the Legacy was pulling me into the Bow.
I have taken 2 shots with RazorTec last season and 2 Deer ended up in the Frezzer. Love the Bow! Shooting Thunder heads 100gr with Game Tracker Terminator Hunters with a Scott Rhino Release

I guess I'm the cheap-skate of the board. I still shoot my old Bear WhiteTail II that I bought about 15 years ago. I look at other bows but just can't get past the sticker shock. Probably could improve things with a new sight, better rest and a release, but I can still put a group of three in a 5 inch circle at 30 yds. using just pins and fingers. I know, I know... that's not 21 century shooting but it works for me.

I did set my boy up last year with a PSE Beast and he out shoots me even on his worst day. He took his first buck, a spike, with it - one shot, through the heart at 15 yds. It means more to me to see him succeed.

I like to keep it simple.

Replaced my old PSE with a new PSE DeerHunter a couple of weeks ago. Don't need anything flashy for deer hunting. I do use a Hurricane release, Carbon arrows and a new drop tine whisker bisquit though.

I'm goin to seem like a odd ball. I shoot a old Browning Spectrum. I could use anything, one of the perks of owning a archery shop, but why fix what ain't broke?? That old Browning has done it's job so far,so I don't plan on changing unless something drastic happens.

Welcome to the forum Cordman http://www.huntingchat.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_smile.gif I shoot a Hoyt Rebel XT, 30", 65lbs. that I bought in 1995. TM Hunter rest, Hoyt over-draw (3 1/2"), Easton XX75 2018 aroows, 100Grn. Thunderheads, Ultra-Nock, Limb Savers, and a Pro Deluxe release. Not state-of-the-art by todays standards, but easy and forgiving to shoot with plenty of power.

Custom made 62", 62 lb. @ 28" Walnut longbow made by George Deloge of Bowyers of N.E. It's a beauty, I think it weighs 14 oz. with the hand made flemish twist bowstring. I also shoot wooden arrows that I make myself topped with 2 bladed, cut on contact broadheads that I sharpen with a small mill file ala Howard Hill. I hung up my compounds and have not looked back.....<><.... http://www.huntingchat.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_biggrin.gif

I shot a PSE Mach 5X for a long time (best bow EVER!!!) than a AR34 to a PSE Diablo to a Hoyt Vectrix to Mathews Drenalin (still) and a newly added Mathews DXT (as of this past Saturday). I wanted to try the Mathews gang to see if they are all that..... and they are. Who knows what's next... If I had any skill at all, I would shoot a traditional bow, but I don't.

1 pin to 50 yards?...might lsoe some credibility on that one... and as for teh arrows? you get what you pay for.

11-03-2008, 01:13 PM
ask anyone who shoots an elite. You hold the pin between the vitals and spine and that arrow will drop right in the honey hole.As for the arrows I've shot the expensive ones and cheap ones and they all killed deer, the deer doesn't know the price of the arrows. I get the expensive ones for 3D and cheap ones for hunting.

jgbennett6
11-03-2008, 01:49 PM
I bet ultratech would disagree, but hey what do I know, I usually shot a longbow!... as for using the cheap arrows for hunting, thats kinda backwards for em. I will use the best when somethings life is what i'm trying to take.

There isn't a bow made that will shoot one pin out to 50 yards, unless you're shooting a hold over technique.

I have shot some of the fastest bows and never was able to hold 1-pin to 50 yards. I have done 30 yards with a sight in dead on at 23 yards.

I sell Stryker crossbows and they are shooting a 425 grain bolt at 405-410 fps and you still cant hold a single sight setting out to 50 yards.
